«For me the formation of the thought is already sculpture.» Seven Pears in a Line is both a reference guide and a memory map of several hundred instructions or stories about artworks. A mix between both the author’s and other artists’ work, made or unmade, existing or made-up. «When I experience a work of art that I really like or dislike it’s automatically filed in my brain under ‘art experiences worth to remember’. This file or memory map of experiences, has been on my mind for as long as I can remember. A couple of years ago I started writing down parts of this map in a document on my computer. While writing, the text got it’s own will, and grew into being both my memory map and about my memory map at the same time.» Essay, 32 sider Roger von Reybekiel (b. 1981, Stockholm) is an artist, curator and musician, based in Stockholm. He studied at Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design and The Royal Institute of Fine Art, both in Stockholm and Tokyo Zokei University, Tokyo. Recently he has done solo shows at Blunk Gallery, Trondheim, Fullersta Gård, Stockholm and Ingress Gallery, New York. His recent curatorial practice includes shows at Platform Stockholm, Fullersta Gård, both in Stockholm and What the Shop, Vienna. «Roger von Reybekiel’s Seven Pears in a Line is perhaps not a handbook as much as a work of work. A concrete poem in the wonderful world of lists. Parts of the score seem simple, parts of it quite banal. Others involve complicated processes, good planning, developed logistics and certain specific resources. But there is nothing frivolous about Seven Pears in a Line, even if there might appear to be. Remember that people have chosen to live their lives this way. And that this has had consequences.»Seven pears in a line
